Abstract
The presentation will mainly cover the advantages generated by
using topology optimized B-spline networks. Therefore a brief
introduction to B-splines and B-spline networks will be given, including
definitions, classification of B-spline networks, advantages and
disadvantages, operational areas and especially learning algorithms.
After that the motivation for topology optimization will be outlined
by discussing overfitting and knowledge discovery. Different
topology optimization methods will be touched leading to an evolutionary
approach. Therefore a short introduction to evolutionary
algorithms will be given which is followed by the presentation
of the real world problem of toxicity prediction.
Finally general problems and solution appendages for convergence
acceleration of genetic algorithms will be discussed.
Keywords:
B-Spline Network, Topology Optimization, Genetic Algorithm,
