Learning approaches will become very important in robotics, if at least these approaches can comply with real-world requirements. Imagine that you want the robot to execute a new task it hasn't performed yet. An intuitive approach is to "program" the robot by demonstrating the task. A three-phase learning approach is proposed and applied to force-controlled assembly tasks. The final goal is to build service robots. Here, communication with the robot is of utmost importance. We are starting a new project om the use of robots in the home & professional domain. Emotional interaction, ubiquity and awareness play an important role.
